A Break in the Clouds

6x6" acrylic on canvas board. SOLD
I'm in the middle of backing up everything on my computer, preparing to upgrade to Windows 10. It's amazing how quickly the 'stuff' on a computer multiplies- I have a sprawling mass of folders to go through, and a ton of software I only use for five minutes a year, and it is a big, big job to figure out what needs saving and what I can lose.

Anyway, the point is that I needed something calming to help me prepare for the long night ahead, so here's a cloud study. I love the way light hits the edge of dark clouds, creating amazing contrast.

Vojvodina Landscape

6x6” oil on canvas board. $40
Available on Daily Paintworks here

This is painted from a pastel study I did a while back, and then kind of forgot about. I was drawn to the strong, dark foliage of the tree set against the pale sky, and the combination of reddish browns and yellow-greens of the fields. I exaggerated the height of the hill in the background slightly to balance the composition.

Sunflower Fields

5x7 inches, oil on canvas board.$40

Place a Bid

Here's a view of sunflowers growing in fields. These fields are really striking, with their thick bands of yellow and green. This is a bit of an experiment in style and composition.

On a side note, I did a couple of plein air paintings today- I was absolutely frozen by the time I got home! I finished them up at my desk once I'd got the feeling back in my fingers. They'll be posted on Daily Paintworks once they've dried- probably about two weeks from now. I promised myself I'd do more plein air work in 2016. I'm off to a good start!
